Darksiders Gets A Sequel

Darksiders Gets A Sequel

None

Darksiders, a comic book-inspired game that could be described as half God of War and half Legend of Zelda, is getting a sequel. THQ has revealed that the aptly named Darksiders II will be coming to the PC and consoles sometime in 2012.

Darksiders followed the story of War, one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse. Unfortunately, War started the party a little early, and the celestial powers that be didn’t really like that. Darksiders II takes place concurrently with War’s struggle to stop the apocalypse, but it follows a different horseman, Death, who, in the Darksiders world, kind of looks like a beefed up Casey Jones from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Death’s goal is to somehow redeem War. Executive Vice President of Core Games, Danny Bilson, Says the team took the best parts of Darksiders and improved upon them while ditching the elements of the game that detracted from the action. Apparently, the game will have a host of new mechanics and features. Among these are a huge world, a much expanded upgrade system, and far more challenging dungeons.

Darksiders II is scheduled to be showcased at E3 this year. Stay tuned for a full preview.
