I’m always a little concerned when a game needs to be patched before it’s even released. Usually, it’s not a big deal. It means that the beta team didn’t do their job early enough, or the release schedule was a little too hectic. Though, sometimes it can be a sign of a poorly-equipped development team, and that should cause some uneasiness. Two highly anticipated titles are hitting retailers today, and both are accompanied by major patches. Resistance 3 is one of these games, and its patch is a whopper—reportedly 656 MB. A change log hasn’t been released quite yet, but patches of this magnitude don’t come along every day.
Just to be clear, I am certainly not suggesting that you should steer away from either of these games. In fact, quite the opposite. (I plan to purchase both). The more of us who support high quality games, the more support the developers will give these titles. So, go pick up Resistance 3 and Dead Island today. Just be prepared to spend some time downloading the patches before you murder any aliens or zombies. By Josh Engen |
