Duke Nukem Lawsuit Finally Ends

Duke Nukem Lawsuit Finally Ends

The lawsuit between Gearbox Software, 3D Realms, and Interceptor Entertainment regarding the rights to the Duke Nukem IP has finally ended, and it’s ended how most of us thought it would. Gearbox Software has been proclaimed the full and rightful owner of the IP now. It owes nothing, legally, to either 3D Realms or Interceptor for Duke Nukem Forever. Hey, even if it did, it’s not like the game made a lot of money.

The suit was ended by way of settlement, but the terms are being kept private. The only thing that is clear is that all three companies decided to willingfully end the lawsuit.

“I genuinely appreciate Mr. Nielsen’s and Mr. Schreiber’s statement and sincerely offer my best wishes to Interceptor Entertainment and 3D Realms towards their future success,” said Gearbox’s Randy Pitchford. “And, as someone who was part of the 3D Realms team when Bombshell was first imagined, I am excited to see what they have in store for us with their game.”

Bombshell is a new top down RPG shooter that was based off of the Duke Nukem IP when it was first envisioned. Now, the main character is Shelly “Bombshell” Harrison.
