E3 2016: Ubisoft Confident the NX Will Recapture Wii Audience

Ubisoft had an… interesting E3 presence, there’s no denying that. While it may not have had the most impressive conference, it certainly had the most memorable. Where else are you going to get dancing giraffes and grade-schoolers dropping the f-bomb in one show? Another reason Ubisoft stood out from the crowd is because it became one of the first third-party publishers to officially confirm a game for Nintendo’s NX. Just Dance 2017 will be making its way to Nintendo’s dedicated game platform next year.

Ubisoft and Nintendo have always played well together, and Ubisoft showed some great early support for the Wii U when software sales were not at all guaranteed (or even likely). Ubisoft exec Alain Corre told MCV (via Nintendo-Insider ) that Ubi has always appreciated the relationship with Nintendo. “They have fantastic brands,” he said. “And they are addressing the family market in a very different way, their own way, which we appreciate. We have done a lot of products and successes with Nintendo in the past, and we believe that the NX will recapture a lot of the lapsed Wii players.” If Ubisoft knows something we don’t and is basing its statements on that knowledge, it sounds like Nintendo will continue its tradition of promoting innovative hardware and taking a unique approach to how consumers play games instead of focusing on raw power.
