EA Executive Reaffirms Mirror's Edge 2 to be in Development

Back in December of 2008, EA CEO John Riccitiello announced in a conference call with investors that EA had several titles that underperformed, but that the potential of some of these titles would move forward as long as the concepts could be revamped to support sales at retail:

“Mirror’s Edge is one that was very strongly reviewed, that one’s going to go forward. We’re probably going to look into some issues around the design to make sure strong IP is married with strong business.”

In a conversation with Videogamer at E3 2009, Patrick Soderlund, senior vice president at EA Games Europe, reaffirmed that the first-person, parkour-platformer would eventually see a sequel:

“Mirror’s Edge was a risky move. It was a bold move, a very innovative and inspiring move. The game wasn’t perfect by any means. We would have liked the game to sell better even though the game has sold better than most people think.” Soderlund continued, “You will see another Mirror’s Edge for sure. It’s just a matter of when that time is and what we do with it. We have a small team on it and I’m excited about what we do.”
