Move over, Madden Curse! You’ve got competition. EA’s going to be releasing EA Sports UFC 2 soon, and Ronda Rousey and Conor McGregor are on the covers. However, it seems a curse may be in effect for this series too. Both fighters suffered upsets recently in matches.
The first happened at UFC 193. Rousey was fighting Holly Holm. She was undefeated prior to that match, but was knocked out by Holm at the event. This happened one day after after she was revealed as one of the two people on the EA Sports UFC 2 cover. Now, a little over a week ahead of the game’s release, it’s over cover athlete suffered a loss. McGregor was beaten by Nate Diaz at UFC 196.
Now, one entry isn’t enough to establish a curse. We’ll need to see what happens with the third and fourth games. But, given the Madden Curse, it certainly seems like appearing on the box of an EA sports game isn’t the best career move.
