Eminem’s Shady Wars is a Freemium Game

Eminem’s Shady Wars is a Freemium Game

Will the real Slim Shady please stand up? Really, I mean it, because there are two now. One’s the real-world Eminem, and the other is the digital version starring in Shady Wars , an iOS and Android game starring the rapper. Hot on the heels of Kim Kardashian, Demi Lovato and Shakira, who went into the mobile space with Kim Kardashian: Hollywood , Path to Fame, and Love Rocks , the rapper has allowed his image to be tied to a very rudimentary music game.

Whatever you had in mind when you pictured a video game starring Eminem, put it out of your mind. Shady Wars is nothing like you’d expect. Players start with Eminem in a hockey mask, but can use in-game coins or real cash to unlock 6 additional characters. They’re $0.99 each, or you can get everyone for $4.99.

Once a character has been selected, you choose one of the Eminem songs available. “The Monster” is the first one immediately available. Others are unlocked with in-game coins or real cash. The “game” involves moving an Eminem-related avatar along the bottom of the screen by dragging your finger left and right to collect the lyrics as they drop from above.  Sometimes he also fires chainsaws at drones.

The best part is the price. It’s $14.99 to unlock everything and remove ads. On the plus side, if you spend enough time unlocking everything, you can earn the songs “Kings Never Die” and “Phenomenal” from the forthcoming movie Southpaw .
