Final Fantasy IX Now on Steam

Final Fantasy IX Now on Steam

Final Fantasy IX is a bold entry in the series that took many fans (myself included) off guard when it came out. The progression from Final Fantasies VI-VIII led us all to believe that the games were only going to get more realistic, more sci-fi, and more mature. Final Fantasy IX came along and touted chibi character models straight out of an anime, a more lighthearted story, and a return to the fantasy roots that originally made the series so popular. Although this was more of a niche entry, comparatively, it has gone down as one of the most beloved Final Fantasy games in the hearts of fans.

In February Square Enix released a mobile version, complete with updated textures and character models, HD cinematics, and suite of cheesing options for those who want to breeze through the game. Now, finally, FFIX has come to Steam. It’s currently on sale for $17 , and comes with all of the extra bells and whistles included in the mobile version with the addition of Steam Achievements (for those of you who care about that sort of thing). Square Enix stated that it wants to focus more on its classic games and bring them back to life for future generations to enjoy – this is another great step in that direction.
