Final Fantasy XV Heroes Don’t Wear Black because it’s Slimming

Final Fantasy XV Heroes Don’t Wear Black because it’s Slimming

All of the main party in Final Fantasy XV is wearing black in every screenshot. Noctis, Ignis, Gladiolus, and Prompto all have black outfits, with each one apparently suggesting what their role is in the government at a glance. It might be easy to assume these are outfits of mourning, due to rumors Noctis’ father, Regis, and fiance, Lunafreya, are dead. Square Enix’s Hajime Tabata, the game’s director, says that isn’t the reason for the coordination.

It turns out black is the color of the Lucian royal family. Noctis wears black because he’s the prince, and his friends wear it because they’re his posse. It’s like the colors purple and red being associated with royalty in our history. There’s no explanation for the belts and chains in each of their outfits yet.

Final Fantasy XV will probably, hopefully come to the PlayStation 4 in 2016. That should give you plenty of time to find the perfect black blazer or little black dress to wear while you play the game.
