Former GameStop VP Sentenced To 51 Months In Jail

Frank Christopher Olivera, former VP of corporate communications and public affairs for GameStop, recently plead guilty before the Northern District Court of Texas to embezzlement. Olivera embezzled over $1.7 million from the company via mail fraud. The court issued a fine of $57,375 for funds unpaid on GameStop’s loss, and a further $77,275 in restitution. Plus he’ll have to spend 51 months in prison.

Olivera had set up a fictitious company called Cloud Communications in Nevada. He would send payments from GameStop to the company and subsequently move the money into his own personal bank account. Olivera was siphoning money from the company form July 2009 to April 2011.
