Next month is going to be great for Xbox One owners who want to feel nostalgic. Gears of War: Ultimate Edition is going to be released on the console on August 25, with an HD remaster that includes five extra campaign chapters, extra multiplayer modes, and other additional content. Unfortunately, PC owners aren’t going to also be enjoying it as summer draws to a close.
Despite being billed as a Xbox One exclusive, Gears of War: Ultimate Edition is coming to PCs as well, just as the original game did back in 2006. However, Microsoft’s Phil Spencer has stated that the Windows 10 release will be coming after the console edition, without providing a release date or reason.
It could be a safe guess to assume it has something to do with the Gears of War: Ultimate Edition being billed on the official website as a Xbox One exclusive. Perhaps Microsoft wants to see if the remaster can move consoles before bringing it to PCs? Maybe if we’re patient, the company will give us a reason.
