GoW: Ascension Gives Us Kratos Of Days Past

None

Todd Papy has been doing a lot of talking about the next God of War title, Ascension . Luckily, it’s all stuff the fans and press alike want to hear, since he’s answering their questions over Twitter.

Some of the tidbits from his latest round of Q&A are relatively minuscule things, or seem obvious, such as the game having a variable frame rate and gameplay that includes puzzles, but others are pretty interesting. The campaign, for instance, will not have co-op, and the game will be using a blended animation system and climbing mechanic similar to what’s in the Uncharted games. Also, no big, open environments, due to the style of gameplay.

Most interesting, though, is the reveal that we’ve already seen Kratos’ in-game model. Remember the announcement trailer, with Kratos chained up, a silhouette against an amber background? That’s his in-game model, with a few extra lighting effects applied to it. A promotional image, similar to it in appearance, reveals more of his features, including a look that appears to be less enraged and more dejected. We already know that this Kratos is supposed to be the man before he was consumed by anger, so what is it that drives him in this game?
