Grandia’s Creator Has Died

Grandia’s Creator Has Died

None

A great man has passed away this weekend. Takeshi Miyaji, creator of the Grandia franchise and CEO of G-Mode has passed away at the unfortunately young age of 45. A statement was released yesterday announcing that he died suddenly over the weekend, though his cause of death has not yet been revealed.

Grandia is a cult classic RPG designed for the PSOne that has one of the strongest followings in niche markets. Anyone who was a number junky back in that silver age knew Grandia by name, art style, and battle system. But Grandia is not Miyaji’s only title.

Miyaji co-founded Game Arts in the early eighties, and worked on several titles, including the cult classic GunGriffon. He left in 2000 to form G-Mode after the hype surrounding Grandia had started to fade.

Our prayers go with you Miyaji. Hopefully you are making awesome and innovative RPGs in the afterlife somewhere right now.
