Guild Wars 2 Runs Second Beta Event

Guild Wars 2 Runs Second Beta Event

None

ArenaNet’s upcoming MMORPG, Guild Wars 2, is now running its second Beta Weekend Event, which will be ongoing until Sunday night. Customers who have pre-purchased (not just pre-ordered) the game are eligible to partake in the event, along with anybody who was able to obtain a key from various fan site contests.

Although only three of the games five races, humans, norn, and charr, are available, quite a few changes have been made since the first BWE. Of course, the usual UI improvements and class balances have been made. There’s a new map, Gendarran Fields, which is geared for level 25-35 players. The “explorable mode” for the first dungeon, the Ascalon Catacombs, is also available, providing a challenging experience for players who have completed the dungeon’s “story mode.”

Gamers who prefer player-versus-player action haven’t been neglected, either. The automated tournament system has been enabled, allowing players who prefer small-group PvP to battle each other. There’s also now a mini-dungeon beneath the central world vs. world vs. world map, in which players can set up traps against each other while battling for the treasure in the center of the dungeon. There have even been dynamic events, skill challenges, and platforming puzzles added to the WvWvW maps, giving players who find themselves far from the main conflicts something to do.

In order for players to tackle all these new challenges, ArenaNet has allowed everyone to keep their characters from the first BWE. Players should check their skills upon logging in, as the skill system has changed and all points have been refunded. After that, they can continue progressing their characters through the world of Tyria.
