The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask – All Heart Pieces and Containers

The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask gameplay

The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask – All Heart Pieces and Containers

In every Legend of Zelda game (except for Zelda II), the life energy of the hero Link is represented by a series of Heart Containers. Progressing through each game’s main adventure practically requires Link to expand his available reservoir of Heart Containers so that he has enough energy to withstand more powerful attacks from more aggressive foes. A Link to the Past on SNES is the first game in the series to introduce Pieces of Heart, which Link must collect 4 to form a whole Heart Container increasing his total HP. Additionally, the SNES Zelda is the first game in the series to expand Link’s maximum health to 20 Heart Containers with all Pieces of Heart and full Heart Containers collected. So how do Majora’s Mask heart pieces compare?

Ocarina of Time continues both of these trends, providing players with a slew of Pieces of Heart to collect from across Hyrule in both the child and adult eras, and it follows that Majora’s Mask also features plenty of Pieces of Heart for players to scour for. Like its series predecessors, Majora’s Mask features 52 Pieces of Heart for Link to collect, combining to form an additional 13 Heart Containers. Additionally, Link acquires 4 full Heart Containers after defeating the first 4 bosses in Majora’s Mask‘s main adventure. Together with the initial 3 Heart Containers players start with, collecting all Pieces of Heart and progressing through the game’s story increases Link’s maximum potential health to 20 Heart Containers.
