Vicarious Visions and Activision announced today the details surrounding the handheld version of their hit musical franchise. Yahoo Games and IGN were hand fed the news that fans of the series have been anxiously awaiting. Guitar Hero: On Tour will include a set list of 20+ songs including such artists as Nirvana, No Doubt, and OK GO. The complete list was not yet released and we will bring it to you once it’s made public. The most innovative feature of the offering is the inclusion of the Guitar Grip peripheral. The Guitar Grip plugs snugly into the GBA cartridge slot and has four fret buttons. Vicarious Visions and Red Octane went through several different prototypes until they finally settled on the simplicity of design of the Guitar Grip. Red Octane will manufacture the fret board that includes a hand strap for a tight fit. Players will rotate the DS so it is upright like a book and strum the touch screen. From the images it looks as if it is a very solid design. However, it also looks like it may be a bit cramped; we’ll bring you a hands-on preview as soon as possible. There will also be a multiplayer component that supports both co-op and versus gameplay via a local connection. There is no word yet as to whether there will be online support through the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, but one would assume that there will at least be some kind of leaderboard system. Stay tuned for more details as they come to us. |
