Since the release of Halo: Reach, many have speculated the future of the Halo franchise without Bungie. Microsoft has also been debating what direction they want to take their flagship franchise in and now seem to have discovered the best path – Halo MMO. The current buzz over other MMOs, like DC Universe Online, Free Realms, and of course Star War: The Old Republic, seems to be the driving force behind the decision to turn the series into an MMO.


The few elements revealed about the game state that the storyline will take place after Halo Wars but well before Reach, this way the developers will have plenty of room to introduce new story elements without jeopardizing the storyline. Players will choose from classes, and the only two revealed thus far are Spartan and ODST. This MMO is shaping into a game that will assuredly test the current heavyweights in the genre, but may also challenge all that come after. We will have more as it develops.
