Halo Trick Team Explores Hidden Cutscene Area

Halo Trick Team Explores Hidden Cutscene Area

If ever there was a group of people so dedicated to achieving the impossible, it’s the team of Termacious Trickocity. They focus on doing all kinds of extremely difficult tricks in Halo games, and Halo: Reach was one of their finest hours. The group spent a whopping seven years attempting to break into an area of the game that was meant to be impossible to reach. That area will be familiar to Halo: Reach players who remember the cutscene from the ninth campaign level (The Package) that featured a science wing that had been annihilated.

By complete and total accident, the Trickocity team realized that the science wing actually existed in the game. It wasn’t pre-rendered, but actually existed as a real set just outside the normal play areas. A giant chasm of nothingness stood in the way of Trickocity and their goal, however. Not only that, but there was a death barrier around the science wing to fully prevent players from reaching it.

In a feat of frankly unbelievable coordination, Trickocity eventually managed—after literally years of trial and error—to break into the science wing. Essentially, the team had to place items, power-ups, vehicles, and Ghosts in seemingly random places to reach the wing. The Ghosts, funny enough, were actually one of the most crucial, but least tricky parts of the operation. The Ghosts gave the Trickocity players a platform to jump on across the void leading to the science wing.

Aaron Sekala, a member of Trickocity, said that all of the tiny moving parts to their scheme were actually the most difficult thing. Every single thing had to be done accurately and at the right time. If you’re interested in seeing what years of messing around in a game can do, check out Trickocity’s video.
