When LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4 came out, we all expected LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7 to follow it. Yet, before today, we had’t heard any word on the project. A short press release from Warner Bros. games changed all that, finally announcing the game’s development. Traveller’s Tales, the developer that brought you LEGO Star Wars and LEGO Indiana Jones, will be bringing you the title, which will release for “holiday 2011” on the Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, DS, PSP, 3DS, PC, and the upcoming NGP. Oddly enough, the NGP has not yet been confirmed for a 2011 release, so this either means that we will be seeing the NGP this year, or the release schedule for the game will differ depending on the platform.  The new LEGO Harry Potter will be the third LEGO game this year, joining LEGO Star Wars III and LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean. It also marks one of the last planned LEGO franchise games we know about. Simply put, LEGO is running out of licenses. If the game franchise is going to continue, they will probably have to pick up some new ones. Personally, I’m hoping for LEGO The Big Lebowski in 2012. |
