Hellblade Confirmed for PC, Possible 4K and Mod Support

It’s recently come to our attention that Ninja Theory’s action hack-and-slash game, Hellblade , has been confirmed for PC. Previously, the game was only slated to release on PlayStation 4, but an exclusive reveal to PC Gamer has unveiled that the developer may also provide mod support and 4K resolution as well.

The creative chief of the studio behind the Devil May Cry reboot, Tameem Antoniades, explained that the PC platform offers “a level of freedom” that the developer hadn’t had before. Developing on the PC, according to him, is a little easier for the studio to do.

“We’re looking at everything we do on this project and figuring out better ways of doing things compared to how the traditional AAA console model works,” Antoniades told PC Gamer.

“And consoles are following suit with PC, but I think they’re years behind what things like Steam are doing. If we want to do an open beta right now, it’s a little bit trickier to do that than on PC.

Player feedback and testing “has always been essential” to Ninja Theory, and Antoniades went on to say that the studio wants to get to a point where the it can “invite players and fans to add to the game, and do things that are unexpected,” adding that players would be welcome to “suggest ideas or add-ons that can make the game richer.”

Hellblade was first revealed during last year’s Gamescom, during Sony’s press conference. The game currently doesn’t have a launch window, but it’s claimed that it’ll release later on this year, even though no official release date has been announced by Ninja Theory itself. Further information on Hellblade is expected in PC Gamer UK issue 275 and PC Gamer US issue 263. Printed copies are slated to go on sale on Thursday, January 15 and Tuesday, February 3 in the UK and the US respectively.
