Is SimOcean The Next Maxis Game?

It appears as if Maxis is finally returning to what made them popular in the first place: making games with the word Sim in the title. Diverting from The Sims, Maxis has finally announced a new SimCity, and it looks like the new line of Sim games won’t stop there.



Electronic Arts has recently filed a trademark for SimOcean in Europe for use with video games. Maxis has already done SimAnt, SimIsland, SimCopter, and more, but SimOcean is a totally new IP. It would be great to see Maxis devoting some time to spinoff Sim games as it did in the past. It would also be great if SimOcean included some of the oceanic life stages that were unfortunately taken out of Spore.
