Jonathan Blow Teases Oculus Rift Support for The Witness

Jonathan Blow Teases Oculus Rift Support for The Witness

Over the weekend, Jonathan Blow released two very cryptic images via his blog from his upcoming game titled The Witness . Both screenshots are taken directly from the game and appear in a post titled  “What could it mean??” Due to the nature of how both images are presented, many are now speculating that the dual-screen effect can be a sign that the title will have full Oculus Rift support when it launches in 2014.

The Witness could be best described as a first-person perspective 3D puzzle video game. Players will find themselves stranded on a remote island and be tasked with solving challenging puzzles in order to move forward. The Witness is currently slated as a timed exclusive for the PlayStation 4 and will also be coming to iOS and PC platforms. Blow had previously released the wildly popular Braid video game that debuted on XBLA way back in August of 2008.

After having some hands-on time with the Oculus Rift, I can firmly say that the device carries a great deal of potential as we smoothly transition into a brand new generation of consoles and technology. The Witness is one game that people were already intrigued by, and today’s news only further raises that curiosity.

The Witness will release in early 2014.
