With Just Cause 3 , Avalanche Studios appears to be attempting to out-Michael Bay the big man himself. We got to see a lot of footage of the game during the Square Enix press conference, and it looks like some pretty ridiculous, over-the-top fun.
Our protagonist, Rico Rodriguez, returns to his home island of Medici to free it from the iron grip of a brutal dictator. To do this, he apparently needs to cause destruction and chaos on the grandest scale imaginable. The trailer shows him doing everything from dropping a car onto a tower and hanging upside-down from a plane to riding an ICBM through the sky. Medici is an open world of about three hundred square miles, featuring over eighty vehicles for Rico to ride and destroy.
Rico has some enhanced tools at his disposal, as well. He can now deploy multiple grapple hooks in order to swing around on multiple exploding hot air balloons, because why not? He also has a flight suit, allowing his to control and direct his descents when he jumps from a plane, tall building, or whatever.
