Konami Releases Massive Super Bomberman R Update

Konami Releases Massive Super Bomberman R Update

Super Bomberman R didn’t have the greatest launch in terms of critical reception. It sold well, positioned as the marquee third-party title next to The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild , but had issues. It didn’t run well, had super intense AI difficulty problems, and some other weird technical problems holding it back. Well, Konami has betrayed its rather poor reputation with a surprise update that addresses and even fixes almost all the major problems with Super Bomberman R .

With the new update, not only does Super Bomberman R have some new content, it also has a ton of fixes. The frame rate, for example, has been massively improved. In story mode, the game runs higher than 30 frames per second, but in battle mode it reaches and sustains a full 60 FPS. The odd camera angle in the story mode can now be controlled. Most importantly, the near-impossible AI has been adjusted to be much more manageable. And even if the AI is giving you problems in story mode, eventually it will stop asking you to pay coins to continue when you fail. Difficulty options have also been added to CPU players in battle mode.

Not only has this update dropped, but Konami also announced some additional characters coming to the game for free. Three characters representing other company IPs are being added: Vic Viper Bomber, Pyramid Head Bomber and Belmont Bomber. They are coming soon, although there’s no release date yet.
