LEGO The Hobbit Trailer Debuts

LEGO The Hobbit Trailer Debuts

The epic feature length of The Lord of The Rings’ prequel The Hobbit has now been adapted into the LEGO videogame franchise, which takes you on an unexpected blocky adventure through 2012’s An Unexpected Journey to this year’s Desolation of Smaug .

The first trailer of LEGO The Hobbit (found here ) was debuted today, featuring the the wackiness and awkward comical timing I’ve anticipated from a LEGO videogame. The trailer itself pretty much only shows adaptations of scenes from An Unexpected Journey and not Desolation of Smaug , as that film has only just come out to cinemas – and because of spoilers, I imagine.

In LEGO The Hobbit , you will be traversing the plots of both games (I presume) with Bilbo Baggins, Gandalf the Grey, Tho rin Oakenshield and his band of dwarves. For the most part it appears you’ll be following the plot of An Unexpected Journey , as least from what is detailed in this story’s press release. Omission of plot details of Desolation of Smaug is understandable, because of potential spoilers.

Players will follow Bilbo Baggins as he leaves the comfort of his life in the Shire to go on a tempting adventure with Gandalf, Thorin and co. Throughout his travels, Bilbo encounters, trolls, goblins, orcs, elves and, of course, Gollum and “his” ring. Their mission? To reclaim the lost dwarven Kingdom of Erebor under and within the Lonely Mountain. The catch? There’s a big-ass fire breathing dragon slumbering in said kingdom. Sounds like a simple task! It’s LEGO , so no doubt there will be some sort of comedy to unravel upon reaching Erebor and the sleeping Smaug inside.

LEGO The Hobbit will drop on Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Wii U, Nintendo 3DS, PlayStation Vita and PC sometime in 2014.
