M-Rated Games Not Selling To Kids

M-Rated Games Not Selling To Kids

None

Here’s a riddle for you. A 16-year old kid walks into a store and picks up an R-rated DVD, a CD with a parental advisory label, and an M-rated game. Which of these is the kid least likely to walk out of the store with? If your answer was the M-rated game, congratulations! You’re right.

According to a study done by none other than the Federal Trade Commission, the video game industry is leading the way when it comes to keeping material rated as unsuitable for children out of the hands of minors. During the study, only 13% of minors were able to purchase an M-rated game, which is fairly good considering 64% of underage shoppers could take home an explicit CD and 38% could purchase an R-rated DVD. So what have we learned here? Video games are being sold responsibly. Take notice, Jack Thompson, because I think your argument just became invalid.
