Mario Collection Officially Announced

Mario Collection Officially Announced

None

A couple weeks ago, we reported on a “Super Mario Collection Special Pack” that was supposedly leaked from a Nintendo retail briefing. While this collection was a rumor at the time, Nintendo has finally made it official today (via Andriasang), coinciding with Mario’s twenty-fifth anniversary, since the game was released in Japan on September 13, 1985.

Not only making older gamers feel ancient, the officially announced Super Mario Collection Special Pack has been given its own website and will be coming with much of what was rumored earlier. This includes a special red collector’s box, a copy of the game (titled Super Mario Collection that includes Super Mario Bros. 1,2,3, and the Lost Levels), a booklet covering Mario’s 25 year history, and a soundtrack CD with songs spanning from the original Super Mario Bros. through Super Mario Galaxy 2. This pack will be considered a limited edition product when it is released in Japan on October 21 for 2,500 yen (about $30). Unfortunately, there has still been no word as to whether this collection will be making its way stateside.
