Nintendo to Celebrate Mario’s Anniversary in Japan?

Nintendo to Celebrate Mario’s Anniversary in Japan?

None

Those gamers old enough to have been alive in 1985 likely have fond memories of playing Super Mario Bros. on the original NES. It was an unrivaled game at the time and introduced most of the world to one of the most iconic video game characters in history, Mario. With Mario’s twenty-five year anniversary rolling around, it should come as no surprise that Nintendo may have something planned involving everyone’s favorite overweight Italian plumber.

According to Andriasang, the “Super Mario Collection Special Pack” for the Wii was leaked from a Nintendo retail briefing. In the states, Super Mario Collection was referred to as Super Mario All-Stars, meaning this will likely be a compilation of the first three Super Mario Bros. games with the Lost Levels. The “Special” part of this pack is said to be a “Super Mario History 1985 – 2010,” which includes a booklet that recaps the character’s history as well as a soundtrack CD with songs spanning from the original Super Mario Bros. to Mario Galaxy 2. This rumored pack is said to be releasing in Japan October 21 and will retail for about $30. There was no mention whether it was planned to be coming to the US as well.
