The Super Mario franchise broke new ground in console games when Nintendo released the Mario Bros. arcade game in 1983. Super Mario 64 DS Premise
Super Mario 64 DS brings the Mario series back to its platformer roots. You take turns playing as Yoshi, Mario, Luigi, and Wario. Princess Peach has invited the four of you to her castle to share the cake she made. But as they enter the castle, Mario, Wario, and Luigi disappear, leaving Yoshi to find and rescue them. Together, they use their special abilities to travel through the castle and find Peach. Along the way, you collect Power Stars and Power Flowers, complete obstacle courses, play minigames, and use power-ups like mushrooms to fight the forces of evil.
Super Mario 64 DS Main Characters
The Mario franchise is full of colorful characters, and this game is no exception. The key players in Super Mario 64 DS are:
- Mario: Everybody’s favorite plumber, Mario wears a red shirt and blue overalls. As Princess Peach’s love interest, his main goal in life is to rescue her from peril. When he uses a Power Flower, he can float in the air.
- Luigi: Luigi wears blue overalls like his brother, but a green shirt and cap. He’s joined the crowd for Peach’s cake. When he uses a Power Flower, he becomes transparent and can walk through solid objects.
- Yoshi: The first playable character in Super Mario 64 DS, Yoshi is a small green dinosaur. When his friends disappear, he sets out to find them. When he uses a Power Flower, he gains the ability to breathe fire.
- Wario: Wario wears purple and yellow. He may be Mario and Luigi’s archrival, but he works with them and Yoshi to rescue Peach. When he uses a Power Flower, he becomes briefly invincible.
- Bowser: The leader of the Koopa race, Bowser’s goal is to conquer the Mushroom Kingdom by kidnapping Princess Peach. He’s one of the most recognizable villains in video game history.
- Princess Peach: As the Princess of the Mushroom Kingdom, Peach is tougher than you might think. She’s Mario’s love interest, and it’s her invitation that’s brought the four playable characters in this game together.
