Super Mario Galaxy is a 2007 Nintendo Wii platform game that was an immediate success after its release. It is the ninth best-selling Nintendo game for the Wii and has sold nearly 13 million copies. It has received overwhelmingly positive criticism from fans and critics. In fact, many have claimed it to be one of the greatest video games of all time. 

The Premise of Super Mario Galaxy

Super Mario Galaxy takes place in the classic Mushroom Kingdom. The main player assumes the role of Mario in his quest to save Princess Peach from Bowser. Living up to the title’s name, levels in Super Mario Galaxy soar to the stars and Above. Planets have gravitational force, grabbing Mario and enabling players to walk sideways or upside down, adding a new element to the game’s movement mechanics. 

The main objective of the game is to collect 120 Power Stars. These are earned by completing challenges, battling bosses, and solving puzzles. As the player progresses through the game, challenges for the stars increase in difficulty.

Mario and other characters in the series are iconic in gaming and pop culture. Like other entries in the Super Mario series, player one takes the role of Mario, and player two assumes the role of Luigi. Other main characters in Super Mario Galaxy include:

Mario: The main character in Super Mario Galaxy, Mario is an Italian plumber who wears blue overalls and a red hat. His main objective in the Super Mario series is to rescue Princess Peach from Bowser.

Luigi: The twin brother of Mario, Luigi is usually the character selected for player two. Luigi can jump higher and further than Mario, but his movements are not as precise.

Princess Peach: Princess Peach is the princess of the Mushroom Kingdom and is frequently kidnapped by Bowser. She is commonly viewed as Mario’s romantic interest but Nintendo is not always clear on the status of their relationship.

Bowser: Bowser serves as the main villain, frequently kidnapping Princess Peach to prevent her magic from foiling his plans of conquest. He is the king of the Koopa, a race of turtle-like creatures mixed with some dragon and dinosaur traits.

Rosalina: Rosalina made her first appearance in Super Mario Galaxy, residing in the Comet Observatory. She has a nurturing nature for the Lumas, a species of star-like creatures. Her backstory and character development is explained in detail in “Rosalina’s Storybook.”

Super Mario Galaxy Cheats

In Super Mario Galaxy, there are no cheat codes that a player can input. However, there are some secret cheats in the game. These cheats can be seen as easter eggs that players can discover by completing the correct steps.

Unlock Luigi as a playable character:

After collecting all 120 stars, visit Rosalina in the Comet Observatory and request to fight Bowser once more. After finishing the game credits, Luigi will be unlocked.

Grand Finale Galaxy:

To unlock the final galaxy and star 121, first, collect all 120 stars with Luigi as well as beat Bowser. This will unlock the Grand Finale Galaxy, and it is accessible from the green trial planet. Collect the 100 purple coins in the galaxy to get the 121st star. 

Starting Boost when racing Cosmic Mario:

When the countdown timer starts, hold forward. When the countdown timer hits two, hold down z to crouch, and when the race starts, with A immediately. 

All coconuts turn into watermelons:

Collect 9999 star bits in the hub. This will turn all coconuts into watermelons. 

Death Count:

Once you collect the final 121st star with both Mario and Luigi, you will be able to see your death count on your save file. 

Zelda Rupee:

This cheat is more of an easter egg. Once you unlock the Rolling Gizmo Galaxy, enter its level. Walk past the ball and get on top of the metal cubes. Wall jump onto the bridge, and once on top, go to the edge and pan the camera down. Here, you are able to see a Zelda rupee made out of star bits.

Currently, there are no cheat codes for Super Mario Galaxy. However, easter eggs and cheats are present in the game which are available to players.

There are currently 42 levels, known as galaxies, in Super Mario Galaxy.

Are the cheats the same for Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2?

Since the two games are entirely different with different levels, galaxies, objectives, and mechanics, the cheats for the two games are completely different.
