Mario Maker Becomes an amiibo Fest

Mario Maker Becomes an amiibo Fest

Early copies of Super Mario Maker have gone out to reviewers, and the online community is already starting to get messed up. You see, Mario Maker has something called the 10 Mario Challenge and 100 Mario Challenge. Basically, these are game modes where the software puts several user made courses together into makeshift Mario games. You get to choose your difficulty when taking on these challenges, and the game determines difficulty by how many people in the community have managed to successfully complete a community made stage.

But amiibo are screwing this all up. You see, having an amiibo allows you to place a “mystery mushroom” power-up. This turns Mario into the amiibo you used. There are over 90 amiibo power-ups to play around with, which is cool, and since it’s so cool, certain fans are making levels which are nothing but rows of question blocks, showing off these mystery mushroom power-ups. Essentially, these levels are saying “LOOK AT MY AMIIBO COLLECTION!”

The thing about these levels is that there is no actual gameplay in them. They are just power-ups and a goal. As a result, all of these levels get put in the easy category. This means that when people are looking to play some easy levels, instead they get levels that are, essentially, brain-dead with no gameplay in in them whatsoever. This has made the easy portion of the 10 and 100 Mario challenge completely unfun.

It’s unknown as to whether or not Nintendo will fix this in the future. Hopefully they will before the game actually releases. We will give you an update as soon as more info becomes available.
