Mario Party 10 , the latest in the Mario Party series, and first for the Wii U, finally has a release date. The game will be coming out on March 20 th in North America and Europe and March 12 th in Japan.
This new installment of the series features three very distinct game modes. The first “Mario Party” mode plays a lot like Mario Party 9 . Players are tasked with getting to the end of a board while having the most mini-stars in their possession. Players all move around in one shared video and take turns being the “captain” of the vehicle, i.e., the player who rolls the dice.
The second mode, “Bowser Party” is a completely different mode. In this game, 4 players take the role of Mario protagonists and one with the Gamepad takes control of Bowser. Each character has a certain number of hearts which they can lose in mini-games or map events. It’s the character’s job to get at least one character to the end of a board while alive, while it’s Bowser’s job to eliminate all the characters before they get there.
Finally, the game has a brand new mode called Amiibo Party. In Amiibo Party, players will play on classic themed Mario Party levels, trying to buy stars and get coins. These boards are all small and play quickly, perhaps solving one of the big problems of past Mario Party titles. Progress is saved to your Amiibo, though this means that all other data on the Amiibo will be lost.
We will bring you more information about Mario Party 10 ’s release as it becomes available.
