In 2018 during the boom of mascot horror triggered by the release of Scott Cawthon’s Five Nights At Freddy’s, Joey Drew Studios released Bendy and the Ink Machine. Originally released on the game distributing site, Game Jolt in 2017, all 6 chapters were released worldwide on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch in 2018. The title was received well when it was released. It was praised for its aesthetics and story but its puzzles and combat received most of the criticism. The Premise Of Bendy and the Ink Machine

Bendy and the Ink Machine is a first-person survival game that resembles cartoons from the 1920s to ’40s. You play as a retired animator named Henry Stein who returns to his old workplace to find the studio destroyed and certain cartoon characters have been brought to life. The game consists of combat and puzzle mechanics. Combat consists of using melee weapons to defend yourself on top of a Tommy gun for long-range engagements. The game also is similar to other first-person survival games like Bioshock due to its audio log systems where you can find out more details about the world of Bendy and the Ink Machine.

The Main Characters of Bendy and the Ink Machine

• Henry Stein – The former animator of Joey Drew Studios and the main protagonist of Bendy and the Ink Machine.
• Joey Drew – The founder of Joey Drew Studios and the overarching antagonist of Bendy and the Ink Machine.
• Buddy Lewek – The volunteer of Joey Drew Studios and one of the allies. He appears in Chapters 2 to 4 as Buddy Boris.
• Sammy Lawrence – The music director of Joey Drew Studios and one of the antagonists. He physically appears in his ink form in Chapter 2 and later in Chapter 5.
• Susie Campbell – The former voice actress of Alice Angel and only heard in audio logs from Chapters 2 to 4. She has since been warped into a twisted version of the angel.
• Thomas Connor – The repairman of Gent and one of the allies. His voice was first heard in the audio logs of Chapters 1 and 3, and he physically appeared in Chapters 4 and 5 as Tom.
• Allison Pendle – The voice actress of Alice Angel and one of the allies. She was first mentioned in Chapter 3 and appears in Chapters 4 and 5 as Allison Angel.
• Norman Polk – The lead projectionist of Joey Drew Studios and one of the antagonists. His voice was first heard in his audio log from Chapter 2 and physically appeared in Chapters 3 and 4 as the monster known as “the Projectionist”.
• Wally Franks – The janitor of Joey Drew Studios and only heard in audio logs from all chapters.
• Bertrum Piedmont – The founder of Bendy Land and one of the antagonists. He only appears in his boss form in Chapter 4.
• Jack Fain – The lyricist of Joey Drew Studios and one of the antagonists. He only appears in Chapter 2 as a Searcher-like creature.

Other Titles In The Series

There are two other titles in the series of Bendy and the Ink Machine that were released.

Boris and the Dark Survival was released in 2020 as a prequel to Bendy and the Ink Machine. It was a part of the original’s anniversary.

Bendy and the Dark Revival was released in 2022 as a sequel to the original game. The game takes place roughly 10 years after the events of the original game and follows a character named Audrey, an animator who works for Archgate Pictures; the company that took over Joey Drew Studios after its bankruptcy.

Secret Mini-Boss in Chapter 2 – After you turn the second pipe wheel and gain access to Sammy Lawrence’s office, head to the room where you first started the chapter. There, in the pentagram, where you regained consciousness, is a searcher with a miner hat. It’s larger than the other searchers you encountered so it’ll take 4 swings to take it out.
