Toonstruck Cheats & Cheat Codes for DOS and PC

Toonstruck is a 1996 graphic adventure title developed by Burst Studios and published by Virgin Interactive Entertainment. The game was originally released as a DOS exclusive, but you can now pick it up on modern PCs via platforms such as Steam.

Boasting an all-star cast with the likes of Christopher Lloyd, Tim Curry, and Dan Castellaneta featuring, Toonstruck received extremely positive reviews from critics. Despite the quality of the game, gamers were not so keen. Toonstruck was a financial failure, and a sequel was eventually canceled.

Toonstruck Premise

The gameplay of Toonstruck is entirely point-and-click, as you play as a photorealistic Christopher Lloyd against a cartoon backdrop. In each scene, you click to move around, selecting objects to pick up and inspect, as well as characters to speak to. Each character has their own unique dialogue options, and you choose how to start each conversation. For example, a cube of ice option is available at the start of dialogue, allowing you to “break the ice” with the NPC. In total, the game offers 52 characters to speak to, with 80 puzzles and 120 objects to find throughout.

In Toonstruck, you’re traveling the lands of Cutopia, Zanydu, and the Malevolands, solving a variety of puzzles to find objects that will allow you to defeat the evil Count Nefarious. Some of these objects are useful in the earlier parts of the game, so Toonstruck encourages you to travel back to previously-explored areas in order to progress.

Toonstruck handles dying like many other adventure games of its ilk – you can’t. There is no fail state, so if you’re stuck in a puzzle, you can be safe in the knowledge that at least you won’t die.

Toonstruck Main Characters

With Toonstruck‘s huge cast of Hollywood actors, it makes sense that the characters would be extremely important to the success of the game. Even the cartoon characters are played by very famous names, so it makes sense how so much money was spent on Toonstruck – these actors can’t have come cheap.

We’re going to take a look at all of the main characters in Toonstruck, so you’ve got everything you need to know before playing the game for the first time.

• Drew Blanc: Portrayed by Back to the Future‘s Christopher Lloyd, Drew Blanc is the protagonist of the game. Drew is an artist who finds himself stuck inside a world of his own creation.
• Sam Schmaltz: Sam is Drew’s boss, played by Ben Stein, who gives him the task of creating the world that he accidentally enters, kicking off the plot of the game.
• Flux Wildly: Flux is Drew’s trusty sidekick throughout the course of Toonstruck, and is always there to give him advice. Played by Dan Castellaneta (Homer Simpson), Flux inhabits the cartoon world that Drew has created.
• Count Nefarious: Played by Tim Curry, Count Nefarious is the villain of Toonstruck. He is causing chaos around the world using a weapon called the Malevolator.
• King Hugh: King Hugh rules Cutopia, and gives Drew the job of stopping Count Nefarious for good.

Toonstruck Titles in the Series

The story of Toonstruck‘s potential as a series is more complicated than you may initially realize. While the game remains a one-and-done series, Toonstruck was always intended by Virgin Interactive Entertainment to be more. In fact, a sequel was even greenlit prior to the release of the original game.

Ultimately, it was the financial failure of the game that saw the decision reversed, and the potential sequel canceled. But the story doesn’t end there. The original game’s audio director, Keith Arem, obtained the animation rights to Toonstruck, and for years maintained a public interest in reviving the series.

Arem’s efforts have so far come to nothing, although he has spoken as recently as 2016 about the potential of the project moving forward if it can overcome a few final hurdles. We’re not sure if it’ll ever see the light of day, but clearly, there’s a small audience of dedicated fans that would be right there on day one.

Having searched extensively, we can conclusively say that, sadly, there simply aren’t any cheat codes for Toonstruck. Even looking around for any third-party mods or cheat trainers, it’s clear the game doesn’t have a huge community nowadays.

It’s a shame, but sadly, you’ll have to play Toonstruck as legitimately as possible.

Does Toonstruck Have Achievements?

No. Despite receiving a Steam release back in 2016, achievements for Toonstruck were never added to the game. The game still has plenty to do, you just won’t be officially rewarded for it, so you’ll have to make your own fun the good old-fashioned way.

Why Are There No Toonstruck Cheat Codes?

To this day, we aren’t quite sure. If we had to guess, it’s just a case of development resources being allocated elsewhere, but we don’t think we’ll ever get a solid answer in this particular case.
