Adventures of Lolo Cheats & Cheat Codes for NES, Wii, and Nintendo Switch

Adventures of Lolo is a 1989 puzzle game developed and published by HAL Laboratory. As the fifth entry into the Eggerland series, the game was originally released exclusively on NES. It eventually became available on the Virtual Console for Wii and Wii U, as well as the Nintendo Switch’s virtual NES library.

Both classic and contemporary reviews of Adventures of Lolo have typically been extremely favorable. Puzzle games tend to age much better than most. After all, a good puzzle is challenging forever and Adventures of Lolo have plenty to offer. The game garnered a cult following, and even resulted in a few sequels as part of the wider Eggerman series.

Adventures of Lolo Premise

Adventures of Lolo has a massive amount of levels to complete, with a total of 10 floors separated into five rooms each. The goal of each room is simple – collect a set number of hearts, which then open a chest with a gem inside. Collecting this gem opens the door to the next room. Each room has several obstacles and enemies that you need to avoid to survive. Some obstacles can be moved around, and enemies can be shot. This doesn’t kill them, however. It temporarily turns them into an egg, which becomes an object that can be moved and used as a bridge to cross bodies of water. Other powers are available to you as Lolo, like the ability to smash rocks.

As the game progresses, these puzzles become naturally more complex. Still, once you figure out the mechanics of how they work, Adventures of Lolo is a game that shouldn’t take much more than a few hours to complete, even with 50 levels in total.

Adventures of Lolo Main Characters

Because Adventures of Lolo is a puzzle game from 1989, the story and characters aren’t exactly at the front of the game’s priorities. As a game in the Eggerland series, the game continues the narrative from previous titles, with Lolo and Lala at the center of the experience. Realistically, the story and characters are simply vessels to move the game from one puzzle to the next.

  • Prince Lolo: After seeing Princess Lala get kidnapped, Prince Lolo takes it upon himself to head to King Egger’s castle to rescue her. Upon reaching the castle, he is met with a variety of puzzles that he must complete to find the Princess.
  • Princess Lala: Princess Lala is kidnapped by the evil King Egger. As the damsel in distress, she must hold tight while trusting Prince Lolo to come to her rescue.
  • King Egger: As part of his plot to conquer the land of Eden, Egger, the King of Darkness, has kidnapped Princess Lala in front of Price Lolo. Returning to his castle, he must hope his puzzles are enough to keep Prince Lolo at bay.

Adventures of Lolo Titles in the Series

Adventures of Lolo is actually part of the wider Eggerland series, a set of puzzle games popular in the late ’80s and early ’90s. While the series was popular in its heyday, developer HAL Laboratory struck gold when it first created the Kirby series in 1992, leaving Eggerland in the dust. Considering the developer continues to work on Kirby to this day, it’s safe to say it was probably the correct decision. Later, HAL Laboratory also went on to develop titles such as Super Smash Bros., Super Smash Bros. Melee, and Pokemon Snap. In hindsight, as sad as it is to lose Eggerland, the studio simply moved on to bigger and better things.

However, that doesn’t mean HAL Laboratory forgot about Eggerland altogether. Protagonists of the series, Prince Lolo and Princess Lala, have become recurring characters throughout the Kirby games in the form of Lololo and Lalala. While Eggerland may not have seen a new iteration since 2000, its legacy remains through the Kirby series.

  • Eggerland Mystery (1985)
  • Eggerland 2 (1986)
  • Eggerland: Revival of the Labyrinth (1988)
  • Eggerland: Departure to Creation (1988)
  • Adventures of Lolo (1989)
  • Adventures of Lolo 2 (1990)
  • Adventures of Lolo 3 (1991)
  • Adventures of Lolo (1994)
  • Eggerland Episode 0: Quest of Lala (1996)
  • Eggerland for Windows 95 (2000)

How Do I Enter Adventures of Lolo Cheat Codes?

This depends on what cheats you’re entering. For the level passwords, it’s as simple as pressing the Password button from the main menu. There, you’ll be able to enter all of the passwords shown above.

As for the Game Genie cheats – well, they’re a little different. You’ll need to find the Cheats section of your chosen emulator, the location of which will differ depending on which one you use. We’d recommend something like Mesen, where it’s as easy as Tools > Cheats. From there, you’ll be able to add the Game Genie cheats. Some emulators require you to specify that you’re adding a Game Genie cheat, so make sure you check if that is required for your chosen version.

What is the Invincibility Cheat in Adventures of Lolo?

To become invincible in Adventures of Lolo, you’re going to need the Game Genie code “ATOKOAVT AVXUPZVT.” This should make you untouchable against any form of damage, making the game much easier.

If that makes the game a little too easy for your liking, you can use the code “AVOKNTSA AEEOEPTA” instead. This will make you invincible against Medusa and other one-hit-kill attacks, although you’ll still be able to take damage against weaker enemies. We think this is a pretty good compromise, all around.

Does Adventures of Lolo Have Achievements?

Unfortunately not. Nintendo systems have never supported achievements like you find on Xbox and PlayStation – not even the modern Switch. As a result, you’re not going to find any official achievements for Adventures of Lolo.

However, the community over at Retro Achievements has created its very own achievement list for the game, adding 24 in total for you to check off yourself as you complete them. It’s not the perfect solution, but it’s certainly better than nothing!
