Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games Ready for the Wii U

Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games Ready for the Wii U

We’ve known about the Nintendo 3DS version of Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games for a while. It’s has a March 18 release date and everything. But Nintendo was surprisingly quiet about the Wii U version of the game. During the Nintendo Direct, everyone was reassured. The console version is still happening.

In fact, the Nintendo Direct showed off Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games’ opening movie.

Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games has 42 playable characters and 9 confirmed events. Of those, Rhythmic Gymnastics Clubs and Rugby Sevens are entirely new for this entry. Dream events, which contain Super Mario and Sonic the Hedgehog elements, will also return.

We’ll see Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games on the Wii U on June 24, a little over three months after the 3DS release.
