If you’re in love with giant oversized robots (or just 50 foot tall movie monsters in general) right now is a great time to be alive! We’ve got movies like Pacific Rim , the new Godzilla reboot, and now MechRunner !
After the title’s upcoming release was teased at E3, the Playstation.Blog just confirmed the game will launch this Summer. Here’s the official rundown from Vice President of Spark Plug Games Ben Lichius on what PS users can expect: “We’re proud to announce that our new arcade-action game, MechRunner , will be available for download on PS4 and PS Vita this Summer… MechRunner tells the story of a rogue scientist and his niece who build a 40-foot tall mode-changing mech in order to fight back against an invading robotic army fueled by a mysterious alien power source…Players will take the role of Allison, the mech’s pilot, as they battle the war machines of the O.S.O. (our alternate-1940s Russian Advanced Weapons Division).”
Of course, with arcade-style game play such as this, gamers will approach it in a very different way than chugging through a traditional campaign mode. While it’s unclear of this will be a “rail shooter” of sorts, they do state the action will be continuously moving forward (get it…Runner), with obstacles and boss fights your mech will have to contend with.
Additional features for MechRunner will include:
