Though Dragon Age II has been getting some great reviews from the gaming press, it seems that Metacritic users aren’t happy with the new direction of the gameplay, and have been giving the game scores of bad reviews, putting it at a user-review average of 2.7. Why the harsh criticism? By comparison, the press average for Dragon Age 2 on Metacritic is a respectable 85.  Many of the reviewers criticize BioWare’s decision to make the game more accessible to console-based RPG gamers with simplified combat and a more straightforward choice system. It is clear that most of the users haven’t actually played the game, but are instead trying to send a statement that they are unhappy with the changes made to the series. Of course, critics will tell you that the changes represent a natural evolution for the series, but I guess die-hard fans aren’t quite ready to accept change just yet. |
