Metal Gear Solid V Screenshot Used in News Story About Real Child Soldiers

Well everyone, I think we have officially jumped the uncanny valley, and news professionals have mistaken in game graphics for real life people. Television network RT , formerly Russia Today , featured the screenshot seen above on a report about real life child soldiers. The show, SophieCo , spoke with Emmanuel Jai, hip hop artist and former child soldier himself. Before the segment started, the camera panned past a monitor that showed the screenshot, which features numerous child soldiers and a tank. The pan was quite quick, and most people probably wouldn’t have noticed, except for a couple people on tumbler that is.

It makes us think that the researchers for this show are just using a Google search when looking for their images. You can actually find the picture in question is you search for pictures of “child soldiers” on Google, but it comes from the Metal Gear wiki page! Either this is evidence that our graphical technology has become incredibly advanced, or it’s evidence that the graphics departments of talk shows have gotten really lazy in recent years. Maybe it’s both.
