Metal Gear Survive Charges for Save Files and Loadouts

Metal Gear Survive Charges for Save Files and Loadouts

It’s no secret that Metal Gear Survive has microtransactions, and that they’re tied to some pretty heinous in-game effects, like extra food production. It comes across like the game is artificially more difficult than it would have been otherwise because of that. But players have discovered that it’s even worse than most people figured, and some seriously basic functions are held behind some nasty paywalls. Such as, for example… a second save file?

Sure enough, unless you want to shell out some dough, Metal Gear Survive will only let you have one character active at a time. That means, if you ever want to start over, you either have to delete the character you’ve already likely spent dozens of hours on, or you have to pay 1,000 SV Coins. Currently, a bundle of 1,150 SV Coins costs $9.99.

But that’s not all. There is also a fee if a player wants to expand their loadout options. The game gives you four loadouts for free, then charges 300 SV Coins for each supplemental loadout, up to a total of eight. For a game that already has heat on it for being a product of Konami post-Kojima, this kind of microtransaction offering is only adding fuel to the fire, as one can attest to in looking at social media platforms like Reddit.
