Reuters was full of gaming news today. According to Frederic Ruffy, options strategist at WhatsTrading.com, as quoted by Reuters, “There’s talk that Microsoft might be interested in acquiring Electronic Arts.” Ruffy continued to say that “It’s unsubstantiated chatter, but it’s out there,” Shares of Electronic Arts jumped more than eight percent on Wednesday amidst the whispers, but no official word has come from either of the gaming giants. Tempering this rumor substantially are comments from Wedbush Morgan’s gaming guru Michael Pachter who told IGN that such a deal is highly unlikely. “Their value as a one platform exclusive publisher is lower than their value on multi-platform. A media company would pay a lot more,” he said. “Also, most licenses would terminate.”
