Microsoft Reveals Killer Instinct’s Free-to-Play Model

Microsoft Reveals Killer Instinct’s Free-to-Play Model

At E3 2013, Microsoft revealed that Killer Instinct would be some sort of strange, free-to-play spin on the fighting genre. However, it’s only now, at Gamescom 2013, that we know what that means.

The game will come with one free character, Jago, the shoto-style basic character that we all know and love. Additional characters will be able to be purchased for five dollars each. If you are the type of person who wants a full roster in their fighting game, you can also buy character combo packages at a discounted price. The Combo Breaker Pack will cost twenty dollars and will feature the first eight characters; this includes the original six characters and two more characters that will come as DLC at a later time. You can also purchase the Ultra Edition, which gives you the eight characters you would get in the Combo Breaker Pack as well as accessory packs, costumes, and a digital copy of the original Killer Instinct .

Currently, four characters have been announced for Killer Instinct, including Jago, Saberwulf, Glacius, and Chief Thunder . Players are speculating that we will likely see Cinder, Fulgore, and B. Orchid in the starting roster. Who do you think will be put in Killer Instinct’s starting lineup? Let us know in the comments.
