Mighty No. 9 Is Delayed… Again

Mighty No. 9 Is Delayed… Again

Mighty No. 9 is a highly anticipated side-scrolling shooter, said to be the spiritual successor to Mega Man. We’ve been pumped about this game for years. The original Kickstarter campaign was fully funded in the fall of 2013, and the originally projected release window was April of 2015. Things didn’t go as planned, and the game was delayed for half a year. Fans were disappointed, but willing to wait. They soon found out that they’d be waiting a bit longer, as another delay was announced, this time until February 2016.

Well here we are, it’s the end of January, and we have another disappointing announcement: Mighty No. 9 has been delayed again, this time until spring. Originally the game was only going to release on the PC, but additional funding secured (eventual) releases for pretty much every major platform. This has prolonged the programming, testing, and debugging processes considerably, and this time around it seems as though it’s networking and matchmaking issues for the game’s online mode that need to be ironed out. Keiji Inafune said in a statement that the development team has been working “non-stop without break,” and that the end is in sight. Check back with us come spring, and we’ll see about that.
