SurveyMonkey Intelligence did a little bit of snooping around, collecting data, and came up with some surprising estimates. It seems Miitomo is doing better than Nintendo could have hoped, especially considering its novelty. Of course, novelty is fleeting, and it remains to be seen whether or not Miitomo has any kind of lasting appeal. No doubt Nintendo will want to introduce some exciting updates for the summer and fall, but we don’t know if that’s in the cards or not. At any rate, Miitomo is off to a great start. Here are some of the survey’s findings.
Right now Miitomo has about 4 million monthly active users, and 1 million daily active users. On average, the peeps logging in every day are spending about 8 minutes in the app (that sounds about right for me). Now Miitomo wasn’t created primarily to generate revenue, and you don’t have any cute mascots constantly tempting you to spend real-world money like you do in the Badge Arcade , but Nintendo is cashing in on the app, which is reportedly generating about $40k every day, or about $280k every week (remember these are estimates based on 9 days’ worth of data). 80% of that revenue is coming from iOS devices, with the remaining 20% coming from Android devices. Overall the app has been downloaded 2.6 million times, so it’s impressive to note that almost half of those people are logging in on a daily basis.
