More 3DS Release Date Speculation

None

A few short days ago Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime appeared on the Late Night with Jimmy Fallon show and stated that the 3DS would not be released until next year. There weren’t any specific details given about which regions this statement applied to, nor were there any possible hints as to what the system’s eventual 2011 release date would be. You could almost hear the audible winces coming from eager fans the world over.

Today, however, is an entirely different story. According to Kotaku, citing a source close to Nintendo’s Japanese headquarters, Reggie’s 3DS 2011 release statement was an error. Apparently, three months have been said to have been subtracted from Nintendo’s original release window, which lasted until the end of March 2011. If this source proves to be correct, we may very well still be able to pick up a 3DS just in time for Christmas. However, there has still been no official announcement made by Nintendo, so whether or not this turns out to be the case or which regions it may apply to are still up in the air.
