More Details Regarding Avengers’ QuickSilver/Scarlet Witch

While we did get a quick glimpse of the super-fast (and uber-cocky) Quicksilver during X-Men: Days of Future Past we’ll get a second look in the upcoming Avengers ’ sequel Age of Ultron .

In a recent interview, Joss Whedon talked a bit about how the Marvel take on the brother/sister duo will differ from that seen by 20 th Century Fox. “They’re on Team Ultron, which makes things really hard for the Avengers because all of sudden they’re dealing with powers that they’re not used. With the first Avengers, everybody pretty much had the power of being able to punch somebody, and now we have a woman who can get inside your head and move objects, and a boy that can move faster than anything, and a robot Ultron who can self-replicate and is out of his mind. So all of sudden, it’s a darker, weirder, tougher world that they’re living in.” said the director.

While they are certainly a formidable superhero team (with their origins tied to that of X-Man Magneto) you have to wonder if sibling rivalry will play a part in their on-screen chemistry. Actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson (who’ll portray Quicksilver) suggests this will indeed factor into the dynamic of the relationship, calling himself “…quick tempered. He gets agitated. He’s impatient. But he’s super protective. They’re very yin-and-yang in that twin sense. In his power, he’s physical and she’s psychological. My character is very much on the frontline, but he can be quite emotional. You see this beautiful tenderness between them.”

Avengers: Age of Ultron is currently in production and hits theaters May 1 st of next year.
