Muramasa: Rebirth Limited Edition Revealed

Muramasa: Rebirth Limited Edition Revealed

Vanillaware is a company that knows what it wants to do. Eschewing the allure of 3D graphics, they’ve focused themselves on delivering distinctive RPG and action-RPG experiences with stellar, 2D animation. Odin Sphere was the title that put their name on the map, and Dragon’s Crown is on its way, but there was also a title they released on the Wii that took the basic mechanics of Odin Sphere, simplified them, sped them up, and tied them to a sprawling, feudal Japanese story.

Muramasa: The Demon Blade was a gorgeous and unusual game, but it was released to a fairly unappreciative audience on the Wii.

That will hopefully be rectified when Muramasa: Rebirth hits the Vita this summer. It brings with it enhanced visuals and four new characters, available as DLC. Plus, it sounds like there will be a limited edition. For a 20 dollar premium, fans will receive a themed Vita skin, a custom designed Vita face cover, a drawstring pouch, and a lithograph drawn by George Kamitani. I’m always torn on physical limited edition incentives, but at least this one seems fairly functional.
