A new topic of speculation was proffered up for industry-wide rumor-milling from the folks at 1UP. According to their report, Project Natal, the upcoming camera-borne motion controls for the Xbox 360, will likely lead to a new console SKU from Microsoft. It appears Microsoft will essentially repackage their current system in a shiny, new, mainstream-enticing chassis that not only implements the camera, but provides an even more muscle-bound experience. Much like a new PC, the next Xbox will be able to play all your old 360 titles, it will just make them look and play even better. Likewise, new titles will still be able to be played on your old Xbox 360, you’ll just be missing out on some of the technical goodness. It’s currently being predicted that the new SKU will launch in fall 2010.
