The Uncharted series has garnered a massive following for its over-the-top cinematic moments, engaging narrative, and, most of all, its memorable characters. Our hero Nathan Drake has been with us for years, and he’s become a staple in the pantheon of PlayStation video game heroes along side Lara Croft, Kratos, and Crash Bandicoot. While all of these heroes have been somewhat immortalized, destined to appear again and again in future games, the same can’t be said for Nathan Drake; or so we hear.
Uncharted 4 co-director Neil Druckmann told The Sun that, “We’ve been with this character for so long. He’s at the height of his popularity… But I feel like the best way to honor him is to go out on top, to finish his story.” If that doesn’t sound final enough for you, Druckmann went on to say that “…with the end of the story, it will be really hard to do a sequel with Nathan Drake. Maybe there’ll be a prequel, maybe it will be a different character, I don’t know. But this is the end for Nathan Drake.” It doesn’t get much clearer than that, people. Almost everyone is assuming that this means that Drake will die at the end of A Thief’s End, but we’ll have to wait until April to find out for sure.
