New GTX 880 Announced for September Release

New GTX 880 Announced for September Release

Exclusively revealed by VideoCardz on Thursday, July 31, PC hardware manufacturer Nvidia has announced that it will officially unveil the first installment of its next line of GeForce GTX graphical processors, the GTX 800 series, in mid-September of this year. The new GPU in question will be the GeForce GTX 880.

According to VideoCardz, Nvidia is planning a big press event for the occasion, to which all the major press members from around the world will be invited. The event itself is said to consist of a presentation outlining the manufacturer’s new Maxwell architecture, livestremaing, the unveiling of new hardware and more.

Also according to VideoCardz, the GeForce GTX 880 has recently visited a certification office, and it has been explained that this means the graphics card is in the very end of its development process, which is to say that the card itself is nearly ready for public consumption.

The GTX 880 is said to likely feature 4Gb of GDDR5 memory, and it has been confirmed that the card will feature 256b interface. It’s also expected that there will also be a 8Gb variant of the card as well, according to leaked images. No information was provided regarding how many CUDA cores the care will have.

Furthermore, the GTX 880 is expected to have a $400 to $450 price tag (according to VideoCardz), but an official price for the GPU has yet to be revealed. It is speculated that it’ll be unlikely that the card will cost $500.

The GeForce GTX 880 is slated to hit the stores in late-September, shortly after Nvidia’s unveiling. We’ll bring you more news on the GeForce GTX 880 should further information reach our ears.
